Obviously, since "Hook" is one of my most favorite movies of all time, I don't think so much of the novelization. For about 3/4 of the book I would say that it was interesting but it didn't make me in any way happy. Some of the writing style could have benefitted from one more read by the editor. And although I appreciate the homage to the original "Peter and Wendy" in the final chapter of the book when the narrator self-referentially breaks the fourth wall, I find it jarringly inconsistent with Obviously, since "Hook" is one of my most favorite movies of all time, I don't think so much of the novelization. Still, I found the last quarter of the story really engaging and happy, so it was definitely worth reading, once!

Principalmente as saudades.
E depois isto, tanto isto:

I'd give this 3.5 stars, not quite enough to round up to four. It fills in a decent amount of character thoughts and motivations, but I've gotta say... the film did it better. Some things in this book are just awkward. Plus, you can't quite beat Robin Williams, John Williams, Dustin Hoffman and "Ru-fi-oooooo!!"

Regardless, this is a faithful and respectable film novelization, one that is heads and tails above most others that I have encountered. I'm glad I read it.

I love all things Peter Pan, and I love this movie, but I would do yourself a favor and just watch the movie. Its not horrible, but the writing is a little corny, and doesn't pull you in very well. I skipped around a bit. But since the movie is amazing and its the same story, I gave it an extra star.

This book was quite a bit better than the movie, despite telling essentially the same exact story. The characters are not nearly as cheesy as in the film. And the emotions are much more genuine, especially in the last few chapters. It did start a tad bit slow, but by the end it made me want to be a kid all over again.

Apparently even books based on movies are better than the movies. Not as goofy or sentimental as the movie was and still a pretty good addition to the Peter Pan mythos as long as you ignore the fact that it's based on a movie. I don't think it would've been as good if someone like Terry Brooks hadn't written it.

This book is seriously a play-by-play of the movie, so it doesn't matter witch one you choose. I loved the movie and saw it before I read the book, so I felt like a was reading the script to the film.

Wow. I really wasn't expecting it to be all that spectacular, but boy was I wrong. This was a good fantasy story, and especially entertaining if you've read the original because it references it constantly. And, I gotta say, the book was much better than the movie.

Interesting because I found it on a shelf and needed something to read. It was a book written after a screenplay, so I felt like I was watching the movie all over again. But if you're bored and it was there, it was okay.

I knew the story from the movie and even so its slightly different in the book I am still totally in love with the story. Terry Brook showed me once more than he can switch between thinking like and adult and thinking like a child within seconds.

Peter is an adult, a really boring adult at that, and he needs to win back his son in order to rescue them. A lot predicatable, a little annoying at times, but did have its truly magical parts (even if there were only about two of them throughout the book).

I read this because I heard the movie was good, and I enjoyed it. For some reason, I don't like Peter Pan sequels, but this did not ruin the story for me at all. There was some language and thoughts I could have done without, but overall a good book.
Debbie
When you get a book from a screen-play -- it is amazingly like the movie!!
Chris
I've loved the Peter Pan story all my life. I enjoyed the Hook movie. And I love Terry Brooks' work. So why only 3 stars? It's hard to mix perfection together and have it still come out perfect.
Timothy Boyd
A very good book adaptation of the movie. Terry Brooks is the perfect writer to do the story. Recommended

I am not usually a fan of movies adapted to books, but I read this one because it was by Terry Brooks. I liked it.
Helen
nice novelization of film, uncanny to have preexisting images in head
Patrick
Great translation of the movie but wish some parts would have been expanded.

I saw the movie first and was looking forward to reading the book from one of my favorite authors. However, it was so similar to the movie that I didn't find much further enjoyment from reading it.

Imposible leerlo y no recordar fielmente la película a todos sus personajes los niños perdidos peter....me encanto volver a la infancia aunque solo fuese unos días de lectura.
Os lo recomiendo mucho.

Is an incredible book, even though it's based on the movie with the same name, you can discover many new things that in the movie were omited. Full of magic! :)

Cute story, definitely follows the movie. I could picture robin williams all the way thru. I liked the movie also.

To think of Peter Pan all grown up is unusual, but that is exactly the charm of this book.
Audrey Terry
Other have reviewed this more aptly, and so i'll just say; nostalgia in a bottle.
